As a TU faculty or staff member, you can pick and choose from an array of benefits choices to meet your needs.
State of Maryland Health Benefits
Towson University’s health benefits fall under the State of Maryland. The options include:
- Medical plans include routine vision services, behavioral health, and a wellness program.
- Prescription drug plan. Prescription drugs are not included in our medical plans. This is a separate freestanding benefit.
- dental plans
- Term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment plans
- Flexible Spending Accounts
Benefits run on the Calendar Year (CY). Opportunities to enroll are:
- newly hired employees (effective date 1st of the month following date of hire)
- Employees with a life event such as marriage, birth, divorce, death, loss of coverage, etc. (must be reported within 60 day of event). Life event requires documentation (see documentation info section below).
- open enrollment occurring annually each fall (effective date 1st of the following calendar year)

TU faculty and staff can manage their employee benefits online using Workday. Visit our Workday page for login information and instructions on viewing your benefits or making changes to your benefits after a life event.
