Writing Support

Students may contact the Assistant Director directly to schedule an appointment for writing support. From brainstorming to polishing the final draft, we will assist at any stage in the writing process. Whether you are working on a PowerPoint presentation, a resume, a term paper, or an annotated bibliography in APA style, we are happy to help with any type of writing project.

Peer Writing Tutor Office Hours

During the fall and spring terms, TUNE's peer writing tutor holds regular office hours each week. It is a drop-in format, so feel welcome to drop by for five minutes or stay the whole time. Hours are published in our academic programming handout (PDF).

Library Services

Students may contact the contact the Assistant Director for assistance navigating Cook Library's abundant resources. For additional details about the library services offered at the TU in Northeastern Maryland location, please visit on the Albert S. Cook Library website.

Reference Collection

The TUNE library suite in 202 contains a small reference collection including useful writing guides, APA manuals, and other major-specific reference items. These materials are for in-building use only and cannot be taken home.

Circulation

Students, faculty, and staff may order books and other print materials to be delivered to our building in Harford County. Please select "TU Northeastern" in the drop-down menu. If you鈥檇 like assistance navigating the library鈥檚 abundant resources as you work on your paper topic, please feel welcome to schedule a research consultation with the Assistant Director.

Take a Book, Leave a Book

TU in Northeastern Maryland offers an extensive 鈥淭ake a Book, Leave a Book鈥 collection in Suite 202 to promote leisure reading among students. This is an honor system lending library. Feel free to browse these shelves and take a book with you. You may also bring in unwanted books that need a new home.

Workshops

Nearly every week during the fall and spring terms, an academic workshop is offered to TU in Northeastern Maryland students. The workshop topics are announced on the Academic Workshops webpage as well as in our weekly email newsletter.

Tutoring

TUNE presently offers tutoring for the PSYC 212 Behavioral Psychology course. Please review our academic programming handout (PDF) for the current schedule and location.

Study Groups

Interested in forming a study group with your classmates? The Assistant Director can support leaders by helping with the following arrangements: training, reserving a room, finalizing the schedule, and marketing the study group in the TUNE newsletter. If you are interested, please contact TUNE's Assistant Director at any point in the term.

Academic Coaching

Want to improve your academic life? Current TU in Northeastern Maryland students are welcome to contact the Assistant Director to schedule a consultation. We will work together to uncover your academic strengths and identify strategies for improvement. Possible topics for discussion include exam preparation, test-taking strategies, goal setting, time management, memorization tips, note taking methods, and more.

Faculty Resources

Testing Accomodations for Students

TUNE students who are registered with TU's Accessibility & Disability Services (ADS) may use Harford Community College's Test Center for testing accomodations. Faculty should submit a form and copy of the test 2 weeks prior to the intended test date.

Library Instruction

If you would like a specialty librarian to visit your class to present advanced research strategies to your students, please feel welcome to either contact your liaison librarian directly or the Assistant Director who can facilitate the arrangements. 

Classroom Visits and Custom Workshops

The Assistant Director at TU in Northeastern Maryland is available to customize and deliver a presentation to your class on any of the following topics: writing (grammar, APA citations, high-level concerns), academic success, and conducting academic research.
