Celebration honors those tackling real-world challenges in the community

2023 BTU Partnership Awards celebrate projects empowering women, eliminating waste, teaching STEM

Each year, the Office of Partnerships and Outreach celebrates partnerships central to TU鈥檚 identity as a community-engaged institution. The BTU initiative supports partnerships within the Baltimore region and across Maryland, elevating the work that faculty, staff and students are doing to better address needs in the community. This year, on Nov. 8, BTU honored three new partnerships, which were selected based on their impact, outcome assessment and how they exemplify best practices and problem solving to address community needs. 鈥淚鈥檓 so excited to welcome everyone here tonight as we celebrate the exemplary partnerships that embody the spirit of TU,鈥 said Kathleen Crostic, executive director for the Office of Partnerships and Outreach, during her welcome remarks. 鈥淭oday, I hope you feel inspired to build relationships鈥攍ike these wonderful people we鈥檙e honoring tonight have done鈥攂ecause we know they鈥檙e integral in partnerships and making positive impacts in our community.鈥

Since its beginning, BTU has grown to encompass over 525 partnerships with local businesses and organizations. , the BTU Partnership Awards have brought the community together to honor three outstanding projects each year.

鈥淲e value the knowledge that our faculty, staff and students bring to these partnerships, but we equally, if not more-so, value and appreciate the expertise that our community partners bring to the table,鈥 said TU President Mark Ginsberg in his opening remarks. 鈥淚t is all of you that are addressing the community needs while also creating transformative experiences for our students that I want to sincerely thank. Our community engagement is what drives TU.鈥
